Zainab Ahmad & S. Moorelhuda dengan The Alfan

Olympic T.R.C. 1069
Singapore

A1 - S. Noorelhuda - Chaya Tarian
A2 - Zainab Ahmad - Ratapan Bahagia
B1 - Zainab Ahmad - Jangan Angan2
B2 - S. Noorelhuda - Rupa Tarian

A third entry for The Alfan band on StereoMono, this time backing two girls on a split EP. It seems The Alfan could do no wrong and all of their music I've heard is consistently excellent!

One of the singers is called S. Moorelhuda on the cover and S. Noorelhuda in the track list, not sure what is correct.

Sarena Hashim was a a prolific artist during the seventies, sometimes backed by what was arguably the most successful Singaporean group ever; The Quests.  The Quest's guitarist Reggie Verghese is present as aproducer for this EP as well. "Kanda dan Dinda" is a duet with DJ Dave who is still performing, and "Bergembira" is a version of Emy Jackson's classic "Crying in a Storm," here sung in Malay.

Olympic - T.R.C. 1068
Singapore

A1 - Bimbang
A2 - Majlis Pengantin
B1 - Surat Dari Kekaseh
B2 - Terjalin Chinta

The Alfan strikes back!
...and sound just as great backing S. Salim as they did in my earlier post Jeti dengan The Alfan. The last track is actually credited to S. Salim & Jiti, who's probably the same as Jeti..
Enjoy!

Jeti dengan The Alfan

Olympic - T.R.C. 1074
Singapore

A1 - Mesra Di-Kenangan
A2 - Churiga-Churiga
B1 - Bisekan Kalbu
B2 - Sunyi Menanti

What? You say you've never heard about Jeti before?? Then it's about time you got acquainted!

Not sure were Jeti hails from, the lyrics seem to be in Malay and the EP was released in Singapore which was a veritable melting pot of the South-East Asian music scene of the 1960s-70s.  Backing band "The Alfan" recorded with many other artists too and may have had a few releases on their own if I recall correctly. They sound absolutely fantastic here, great organ, violin and percussion sounds. Malay EPs of this kind can be pretty much a hit & miss affair, especially when you blindly buy records just cause the cover art looks great, once in a while a real gem turns up and this is one of them. As you can see on the cover the music is presented in glorious StereoMono!

Enjoy!
