Sarena Hashim was a a prolific artist during the seventies, sometimes backed by what was arguably the most successful Singaporean group ever; The Quests.  The Quest's guitarist Reggie Verghese is present as aproducer for this EP as well. "Kanda dan Dinda" is a duet with DJ Dave who is still performing, and "Bergembira" is a version of Emy Jackson's classic "Crying in a Storm," here sung in Malay.

หงษ์ทอง ดาวอุดร (Hongtong Daoudon) is a luk thung and molam singer from north eastern part of Thailand. This late 70s-early 80s album however is in large parts western influenced Thai funk that wouldn't sound of place on one of the ZudRangMa compilations.

The title track ฮ่วย อะบานิบี is a cover version of Israels winning contribution to the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, Izhar Cohen & Alpha Beta's "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" (א-ב-ני-בי). This song was apparently a huge hit in Thailand, and monrakplengthai's curator Peter says he would still hear the song playing around Bangkok even today. He's also uploaded อรอุมา สิงห์ศิริ (onuma singsiri)'s version of the song so go listen to that as well!

Today we have a StereoMono house favorite, a great Isan luk thung album from เทพพร เพชรอุบล (Thepporn Petchubon). There's a write up in Thai here for those who can read the language. All I managed to figure out with the help of a Google translation is that Thepporn was born in 1947 in the Ubon Ratchathani province. Anyway, it's the music that matters. Enjoy!

Other than that Pattaya Nayok is from the Nakhon Nayok province in central Thailand and released at least 2 albums on the "double rabbit" label, there ain't much I can tell you about todays selection. I really like this album of mostly up-tempo luk thung.

Mesayu Aida Mustafa is accompanied by The Steps on this late-60s/early-70s EP, delivering some awesome fuzz-guitar blasts on "Pantun Jenaka". As many other Indonesian artists (Ernie Djohan, Ervinna, Irni Jusnita etc..) Aida also released records in Singapore and Malaysia during the 1960s-70s.
